What One Identity covers
Governance answers who has access to what, why they have it, and whether it still applies. One Identity manages the identity lifecycle from joiner to leaver, automates provisioning across connected systems, and supports access requests, approvals, and recurring reviews. Roles and policies are defined centrally, and reporting gives you documentation an auditor can use.
Access management covers how people log in. Single sign-on gives users one entry point to all their applications, and multi-factor authentication adds verification where the risk calls for it. Signals such as the device, location, and past behavior decide when to ask for more, so everyday logins stay simple while sensitive access stays protected.
Privileged accounts carry the highest risk, since they can change configurations, reach data directly, and remove their own traces. One Identity keeps credentials in a vault, grants privileged access when it is needed rather than permanently, and records sessions so activity can be reviewed afterwards. It can run on-premises or as a cloud service.
Most organizations still have Active Directory at the center of their setup, usually alongside Microsoft Entra ID. One Identity adds delegated administration, automated provisioning, and consistent group and role management across both, along with policy enforcement and governance. It also supports migration work and extends the same account management to Unix and Linux.
