Automating identity lifecycle management

Working closely with Lovisenberg Diaconal Hospital, Cloudworks implemented an Identity and Access Management solution that automated user provisioning and access management across the hospital's core clinical and administrative systems.

The solution replaced manual processes with automated identity lifecycle management, ensuring users receive the right access based on their role, department, and employment status while reducing manual administration and strengthening security.

HR as the source of truth

The solution integrates with the hospital's HR system, making employee information the authoritative source for identity and access management.

When employees join, change roles, or leave the organization, user accounts and access rights are automatically updated across connected systems. This improves efficiency while reducing the risk of excessive or outdated access.

Access based on roles and responsibilities

At the core of the solution is a role-based model that links employment information, departments, and job functions to the access each user requires.

By automating these processes, the hospital significantly reduced manual administration while ensuring that access rights always reflect the user's current responsibilities.

Integration with national healthcare services

The solution also integrates with national healthcare services, including the Norwegian Electronic Prescription system and the Norwegian Health Personnel Register.

When new healthcare professionals are onboarded, required authorizations are automatically verified, helping ensure regulatory compliance and improving patient safety.

Improving security and efficiency

By automating identity lifecycle management, Lovisenberg Diaconal Hospital reduced manual administration, strengthened security, and improved the efficiency of user provisioning across the organization.

With the HR system serving as the source of truth, user accounts and access rights are automatically created, updated, and removed throughout the identity lifecycle. This helps ensure users always have the right access at the right time while reducing the risk of outdated or excessive permissions.
